One of the first things I learned when teaching myself Ai, was how to offset a path. It can be done with shapes and objects when designing a logo. However, it's also a great feature when designing a word mark for any project.
Great word marks begin with selecting the perfect typeface. It says a lot about the brand, so it is crucial to make sure to take this into consideration when designing.
In my latest video tutorial, I demonstrate how to use the offset path method, which can produce eye-catching designs.
When overlapping text, pick two typefaces that will contrast well together. So if you're going to make the main subject a bold, san serif font, come back with a cursive or script font, which you would apply the offset path to. Positioning is key as well. It's very important to make sure the words you're overlapping can still be read without having to look twice.
Here is how to do this method. Try it out and have fun!
